How come the disease is called coronavirus 2019 but the virus is called Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome 2

If they just called it "SARS 2" everyone would understand what it is a lot easier.
The explanation for how they chose the name is insane. They didn't want it associated with any specific population so they cut it in half and named only part of it after the disease never contracted outside of east Asia
