There is nothing noble in loving yourself or "being yourself" or expressing yourself. What you are really expressing is your voluntary alienation from any concrete social totality. That's great if you can pay rent in Bushwick, not so much if you're stuck working like a slob.

The biggest Drag Race fan I know is on the working side of middle class. The way I see it, Drag Race and politics are both all very well, but they're different jobs - FDR got Irving Berlin to write a song for his polio fundraiser, but he didn't guest star in the Ziegfield Follies
