The claim of "lefty postmodern theory" is not that race "guides political choices" but that it structures social and psychological experience. It's not an "identity" (?) by which people understand themselves, but a modality by which subjugation is executed and justified.

I didn't say these are Marx's claims; my point was that a good class analysis would not lead someone to see Bloomberg's surge as evidence that "class has primacy" in all cases.
