He needs to really up his game on the rural vote. I think he can bump his share back up if he goes back to emphasizing a rural populist set of policies like he did in 2016.

I mean, revitalization of rural america was part of the platform. It just wasnt centered and made into a major talking point, which was a mistake. I do believe the consequences are obvious enough for the campaign to take notice.
