He needs to emphasize social security.
Targeting by race is a losing strategy for Sanders. He needs to go big-tent. The only meaningful demo he doesn't necessarily have a good message for is 65+.

I don't really understand why 65+ voters aren't for Bernie. I'm 71 and have waited my whole life for a candidate who represented my values of lifting people up and fighting for those who need a hand up.

Where do 65+ voters get their info about candidates? That would be my first guess why they don’t back him. Everyone needs to call their parents/grandparents!

Medicare for All obviously has no impact w/them because they already have it, but I would think expanding Social Security benefits would help. Or changing Medicare so that it was no longer necessary to buy gap insurance, which can be damn expensive.

Medicare for All means doing away with the gap insurance. Plus hearing aids are covered, plus long term care is covered. All of this is included - it's not the same okay-but-sometimes-hassle-filled Medicare they're used to, it's improved to cover everything properly & be smooth.

Bernie's proposals are more important for the 65+ even that the other age groups. Donald Trump is cutting Senior's Medicare & Social Security. Bernie proposes not only to save both but to increase them so they can live more comfortably.
