there was a bizarre slew of mainstream press about "nazis: actually they look normal and extremely well dressed" articles around that time, still don't know what caused that particular strain of brain worm
It looked like some weird mix of chosen enemy ("we'll crush this moron so make sure as many people as possible are associated with him") and genuine shock ("this guy speaks our language but he opposes our orthodoxy wtf")
