Removing the metaphor questions from the SATs was a way of suppressing genius in favor of conformity— at a systemic level.

They got rid of it because you can’t teach or prepare for it. Grasping metaphorical logic & inventing metaphor is a fundamentally mysterious human faculty which is correlated with creative genius.

You still can't really teach the SAT language sections, to be fair. That's why they're looking at scrapping it entirely and moving to a connections-based system
