      by accepting NYT idiot's frame about the "appeal of racism", Bernard tried to meet him halfway and dilutes his message (inequality created racism vs inequality created desire for outsider candidates). the attempt at compromise was completely rebuked anyway

      once you have accepted that racism is a key part of this you have signed your own pink slip they will just tell you it's time to step aside and let the Racism Experts deal with this which is exactly what "LOL economic anxiety" means you cannot do both

      critique is easy though, what is the alternative? When asked about the appeal of racism, ask if the Obama to Trump voters in the rust belt suddenly became racist. Reiterate the election was lost because of "economic anxiety". Easy argument because it's true.

      Liberals are uncomfortable with discontinuity (country founded on racism, history of all heretofore existing societies is sexist) and a huge discontinuity crept in between 04 and 08 that they can never acknowledge.

      When Obama won the talk was of 100 years of Democrat presidents and the end of the Christian coalition. That all ate shit in 2010 and 16... Right? It's not like our current iteration of Reagan is obviously an atheist and a lifelong Democrat.
