The fascist threat was always a fetish. A spectre. It allowed the liberals to obfuscate the true antagnism, which was always a class antagonism. Woke discourse policing served the same function— the marginalisation and destruction of the left in a moment of real possibility.

If they were actual nazis, nobody in their right mind says "they were right about x". No, this is just handing out concession prizes after robbing us of an opportunity to develop a truly populist left. And nazis had nothing to do with it, that spectre was pure ideology, kayfabe.

as the realignment continues the social cost is going to continue to go down because there will be too many people pushed out of the circle for it to be a social death sentence.

this is not really good news for people on the left, though, because like any creaky and unstable regime they will respond by becoming more ruthless in exacting revenge the punishments will become more outlandish and arbitrary as the consensus slips away from them

That's the thing, I've seen this game end once before. It seems like it has to, at some point. It was basically nuclear - and then the deck shuffled and the whole game started again on here
