There is no one world order. Thare is no poltiical integration between nation states that would allow democratic enfranchisement of citizens, nor protection of individual rights and liberties, nor a state monopoly on violence to enforce order.

This means nation states are the only vehicle through which ordinary people have any democratic representation, access to legal redress and (albeit middling) some influence over the administration of their lives and societies.

Working people don't have enough power to be okay in a world without the right to bargain collectively. A state can protect their ability to leverage collective union power against the boss to extract concessions + better conditions, backed up by threat of state sanction.

Labor market integration across nation states, without poltiical integration, would wreak unfathomable, irrevocable material harm on workers everywhere. Worker ability to unionise is critically dependent on poltiical institutions to protect that right + sanction abusive employers

infinite supply of labour, responsive only to employer demand, eviscerates labour leverage, making it impossible to extract concessions from boss, no matter how well organised workers are. Oh and no recourse through domestic legal institutions if foreign scab labour recruited.
