Realizing that we're raising a generation of kids whose only idea of what 'good movies' are will come from Disney or Criterion, and how many of the films I've loved through the years have been cut off by the end of video rental and decline of physical media

Criterion is pretty expansive at least. They've got everything from John Woo films to European art stuff to Yankee Doodle Dandy

Their focus is heavily on the Euro art films and a lot of their more mainstream picks are token (cronenberg in, Lynch out) or outright ironic (chasing Amy, Armageddon). It's true there's good stuff in there though.
