Realizing that we're raising a generation of kids whose only idea of what 'good movies' are will come from Disney or Criterion, and how many of the films I've loved through the years have been cut off by the end of video rental and decline of physical media
For whatever reason my family almost never bought movies. We had like ten or so by the time I was in HS. I don't even have an optical disk reader right now

I mean I have two Blu-ray burners as well as a 4K Bluray player and an Xbox which also okays 4K Bluray so I might be a bit of an outlier. But mostly I noticed buying was basically the same price as renting so why rent

I think for my parents when we were young it was a system where they paid a premium for us to watch certain tapes a bunch of times without having any of them clutter up the house, lol
