Bavarians do all wear lederhosen and dirndls though. They are hicks.
Not in the cities and/or only for occasions. They do all say the German version of "howdy" though. I've seen it drive Prussians into a frothing rage

I'm using it to broadly refer to non Bavarian Germans including Saxons, Swabs, Plattdeutsch etc. There's a common regionalism against Bavaria just about everywhere else in Germany.
