Fantastic Mr Fox, Tenenbaums and Moonrise Kingdom all take place in a world so foreign to me that it might as well be an alien planet, with characters I can't fathom relating to. And they're fucking boring, to add insult to injury.
The thing I don't like is attributing this squeeze, brought on primarily by the falling rate and corresponding centralization pressures, to chud masses who can't appreciate art or sellout artists. If Cuaron had done the 7th instead of 3rd Harry Potter he'd still be doing them.

From my perspective, you're winning this cultural battle and I don't know why it matters to you unless it really matters.

Precisely because I'm sick of seeing the low-art high-art dickwaving contest where grown men who have degrees pick out random teenagers and Midwest customer service reps to feel superior to. They're not the ones in charge of output.
