Twitter is filled w/people with absolute cognitive bias problems. Just bc many reporters & scientists have lied and engaged in abuse that doesn't mean every reporter & scientist is a liar. Just bc there are many police scandals, not every allegation of police misconduct is true.

It's important to be able to think critically about what can and can't happen in the world. Can happen: police retaliate against a witness. Can happen: big-money black market transactions go bad. If you dedicate yourself to one narrative early it's hard to pull out later.

From another perspective, I'd bet being a witness to a gun crime is at least a little predictive of being shot whether or not you testify.

Not just from retaliation, but from whatever circumstances put you in proximity in the first place.
