I think it was overrated to begin with.
I think so too. I don't mind the cleverness but the story is just too boring and meandering to make up for the dispassionate tone.

As Pomo Classic lit novels go it's not offensively overrated, though. I'm not mad I spent the time. There's some real stinkers in the contemporary canon
