My problem isn't, and never has been, with the word "reparations". If reparations means that black Americans own the country to the extent that they constitute the country, I'm all for that. My problem is with reparations conceived as a historical debt to be paid.
I've noticed that you backed off your assertion that the government has an exhaustive list of black people in the US. Is that because they don't?

They probably have extensive lists of every ethnic group in the country, especially black people. For example how was the government supposed to figure who was or was not native American in order give them tribal status?

How was the government able to figure out who was interned in camps stateside during WW2? How are they able to figure out who was a Holocaust survivor and pay them money?
-
Probably because those were actual living people who suffered direct, demonstrable injury rather than those who are purported to be victims of a system that was abolished a century before the birth of any person alive today.

The government is able to figure out who is black when it comes time to put people in for profit prisons though don't you think that's weird?
