Why does the "calculus" in this (now-ubiquitous) study START from assumption that the level of sympathy for "impoverished whites" prior to learning about white privilege was correct? Equally valid they were being afforded an unjust amount, and privilege info fixed the imbalance

It's rather difficult to have such a convo without it becoming a "who's life is shitier debate". That debate is largely counterproductive,with rich whites like Trump laughing all the way to the bank while we have it. What's actionable? Needs to be the question of the day.
