"Economic patriotism" is a banal description of what any head of state engages in. The only way such a basic and obvious duty seems problematic is if you're high as a kite on American Exceptionalism/Imperialism.

yeah sure. this is a consequence of the breakdown of organised labor as a meaningful political unit and a broader ‘peasantification’ of the wc. this was achieved by:

1. the erosion/outsourcing of manufacturing and industrialised labor and the transition to an economy with more white-collar, service sector, and contract labor (all of which is not conducive to cultivating a mass wc consciousness)
