I don’t think he meant he enjoys it (maybe?)- but it seems to be a disciplinary practice people think does some good. It reminds me of the outdated method of housetraining dogs by rubbing their noses in the carpet and yelling at them. Doesn’t work, has some harmful side effects..
He thinks "psychological trauma" is a disciplinary practice that does people good? He makes a strong case for exactly why it *doesn't do anyone any good*.

2. anti-bullying, and understandable that victims of it would be drawn to it as a way to try to get their own dignity back and undo the trauma.. unfortunately, on social media it sometimes winds up being bully v. bully
