Does anyone understand why a lot of these people have very little involvement in politics besides "Trump bad" some of them are warren supporters but a great deal of them pursue change completely outside the realm of traditional politics, maybe in missing something.

They don't support active participation in national politics. For some, neoliberalism represents a best-case scenario in that it threatens to tank first world wages. the only "real" problem is that that isn't happening fast enough because of US military interventions and borders
This is something few lefties will admit to explicitly, but the force vector between identity politics, environmentalism, Maoism and capital points towards the glorious and heroic immiseration of an imagined 'average' American, ala MovieBob.
