Far-left ideology is principally about economics & government structure. In this sense, certain varieties of far-leftism can attract the most vile racists & sexists, but not all varieties do. Far-rightism, in contrast, *is* inherently about the subjugation of other people.

So, I think it's useful to see far-leftism as fractured, movement-wise.

There are certainly groups of leftists out there who are sexist & racist, both in subtle & overt ways. The most common form of bigotry comes in the form of minimization of discrimination in the aim of advancing class reductionist arguments. This is a tale as old as time.

Far-left economic discussions also frequently ignore intersections between class & race, as well as class & gender & so, in this sense, we can call these discussions "racist" and/or "sexist." Many who advance these discussions do turn towards minimizing female & minority voices.

So it should not be shocking that some men who have left-wing economic ideas and ALSO hate women and/or minorities are drawn to online left communities, esp. communities that use dehumanizing language.

But this does not mean that leftism itself inspires violence. That support for, say Medicare for All or Free college, inspires violence. The core ideologies that transcend leftist movements are not in themselves inherently racist, sexist, or violent.

(Even though, again, we do see racism & sexism in many of these communities).

Far-rightism, on the other hand, *entails* bigotry. The ideologies that link far-rightists together are racist, sexist, and nativist, not economic, in nature.
