tried to set up a second account for more private stuff but twitter won't let me get anywhere without giving them a phone number so i guess that's not gonna happen :|

How recently? My alt hasn't had a problem but that was maybe a year, year and a half ago
As of a couple months ago I couldn't find one that didn't throw an error when I put it in. Google's virtual phone service works but that itself requires text message validation
