1) A huge congratulations to @8en on the Pinterest IPO! I first met @8en & @sciarra at an apartment off of California Ave that the company was being run out of. It was only 4 people but I was struck by the vision & determination @8en had even that early on.

2) I remember going to the apartment weekly to help advise the team. In the early days the team was asking, “we feel like we’ve built something really special but no one will write about us! How do we get PR?”

3) It was amazing how quickly that conversation turned from getting the word out to shutting out the world that was beating down the company’s door. Mayors, editors and famous people were reaching out every day trying to figure out how to get involved!

4) One thing I really respect about
@8en was how he was able to eschew the attention. He didn’t do this for the fame. I remember him saying, “Jack, I’d be happy if I had 100 extremely happy users” & he did just that meeting with dozens of users 1:1 for coffee1 reply 1 retweet 20 likesShow this thread -
5)
@8en turned down the glitzy path of magazine covers, hob nobbing with celebrities and speaking at conferences to spend time with his team and think about how to delight users and scale the company across the globe.1 reply 0 retweets 20 likesShow this thread
6) @8en tuned out the noise, stayed focused on the long term and now has reached what I’m sure he views as a first milestone in a long race. I wish @8en and Pinterest enduring success and am thankful for being given the chance to have been along for the ride!
