I’ve been getting a lot of critical feedback on this tweet. Fair. I should have provided more context why I thought it was a “great read.”https://twitter.com/jack/status/982096889930657792 …

I thought this was a strong analysis and thesis of competing economic systems in the past (labor) and today (energy), where one ideology had to win completely to move us all forward.

As I read it, this wasn’t a call for civil war (author used as a provocative metaphor) or a one party system (author states both parties still exist), but a bunch of learnings and warnings for both parties. I disagree both parties can’t work together.

People weren't responding bc they think this is a call for literal civil war. I'm not a Republican, but if you search the article for the 33 occurrences of "Republican", it shouldn't be hard to appreciate why this is a polarizing piece, and your promotion of it is disconcerting.

To be clear, "a bunch of learnings and warnings for both parties" is a very, very difficult synopsis to draw from that piece. It's an article about how forward-thinking CA Democrats drove backwards Republicans into the ground, and the rest of the country should follow suit.

I read it as a take that it could happen, not that it should.

That's fair, and I honestly don't intend to project my interpretation of the article as being one and the same as yours. As you say, the closing paragraph has more of a speculative tone to it, but IMHO, the preceding context focuses on the impetus and reads as a call to action.

But again, the aspersions cast at Republicans in that article include brain-dead orthodoxy, being controlled by zealots and the corrupt, a refusal to engage in good faith compromise, toxicity, and a dozen other statements, including outright calling them the "bad guys".

I left the GOP in extreme discontent in 2016, so I'm really not trying to defend them. I'm also not interested in dissuading you from your views, but I think what concerns me and others is that it appears that you have assessed this as a relatively neutral piece, which it is not.

Then why is Twitter censoring conservatives? After a conservation yesterday where a bunch of liberals were attacking me (!!), MY account was suspended, i had to verify my phone # (for the 2nd time, 1st being the #TwitterLockOut), and now my account is clearly being throttled.

Nice "context" you got there. Would be a shame if someone interpreted it as a sorry CYA attempt, trying to obfuscate your clear political, anti-American, socialistic motivations & desire to silence those you disagree with.

As head of a major social media company, I find it difficult to believe you lacked the good judgement & foresight to know how your comment would be perceived, by both the left & the right. Funny how expounding never carries the same weight as the initial "misrepresentation".
