It’s unbelievable how great a native Mac native client Twitter had when they acquired Tweetie. Just unreal what they pissed way in favor of a shitty web interface.https://twitter.com/TwitterSupport/status/964635739517407232 …

Twitter on the web feels like a static product. Like something you open, read, and close. Twitter for Mac made it feel alive; a never-ending conversation, in a way even the best mobile clients don’t. Really too bad.
-
I know. We’re going to strive to get that feeling of electricity in all of our clients

Maybe you can use Marzipan to let us run the iPad version of Twitter on the Mac when Marzipan will be public.

The iOS Twitter app would make for a terrible Mac app.

Would be great if y’all could give Mac devs a better API with support for polls, group DMs, etc. now that you’re out of that market entirely

Threads are great but almost impossible to navigate / engage with after a certain (pretty small) size. Twitter is a series of chronological, sometimes interconnected nuggets. Fluidity of movement — in and and out of time-flow and thread-space — is critical. Web fails here.
-
I obviously don't know the numbers, but having an interface that encouraged exploration down sub-tendrils of conversations (knowing you can easily and quickly and *reliably* return to where you were) seems like it would positively impact engagement.
-
I always admired the smoothness / fluidity of Facebook's Paper, but the content size was off. Tweets, wrapped in a similarly tangible, smoothly tactile interface feels like a a perfect fit. Hoping your teams achieve something close.

Anyone who has ever built software on multiple platforms should appreciate this focus. I’d rather Twitter concentrate on building one 100% badass web app than a decent web app + a decent desktop app. Way to buck the pitchforks pressure and stay focused, Twitter!
-
It’s the lazy approach to avoid a good Mac app. Or for more ad spamming

Its not too bad? How hard is it to give users the ability to have a chronological time line? Tomorrow ill wake up and the first item in thread will have been tweeted 10 plus hours ago.

Whew so glad I won't be getting rape threats on the mobile app any more

Any time you have to start a sentence with “our desktop web interface isn’t that bad” you’ve already lost the argument. How about open sourcing that Tweetie code so the community can build a good client?

I really can’t believe you’re still the CEO of that company if you strive for "not that bad" products

Pathetic. Your iOS client sucks and you can't manage one on Mac. The lack of obvious features is stunning and sad. Please find someone competent to manage your software. Most important software in the world shouldn't suck. I'll be happy to come do it.
