You should start by being honest. Verification has never been about authenticating identity, has always been about choosing winners & losers

Twitter’s own verification page demonstrates that
@jack and@TwitterSupport are lying about verification. It’s explicitly about importance.pic.twitter.com/oJk0ipGvJn

Just straight lying. Twitter has long said, explicitly, that verification is for accounts “of public interest.”pic.twitter.com/O2jK7U0GMI

It’s still all over Twitter’s website today, even as they claim verification is merely “meant to authenticate identity,” not importance.pic.twitter.com/q4RDCBaXae

Twitter decided to give Nazis special features & prominence, got caught, and now
@TwitterSupport &@Jack are lying.https://twitter.com/jamisonfoser/status/928667389511720960 …

I don’t get why you wouldn’t want us to remember you fondly when you collapse under the weight of your own stupidityhttps://twitter.com/TwitterSupport/status/928777729180254208 …

50 character usernames? Nobody asked for that. Stop promoting Nazis you dumbfucks.
-
Hmmm. On further consideration, “Stop promoting Nazis you dumbfucks” is only 34...

This is all bull. So many women (myself included) who work in tech, who are public leaders, who have many times the followers of that guy, cannot get verified. Despite repeated requests. Despite being under attack from assholes like that guy. You've been choosing sides for years.
-
It seems that paying attention to women doesn't scale well for Twitter.

The result today is your company has endorsed an actual Nazi organizer, one who organized an event that led to a murder and then gloated about that murder afterwards. You are failing.
-
Yeah but 280 characters

jack. if you listened to like, anyone at twitter in the last two years, you’d have known this
-
“now we’re gonna fix faster” is nice to hear but like. maybe listen to your users, ever? and not the nazi ones? and then you wouldn’t have to panic when you get rightfully called out as the pro-nazi social network

Don’t verify Nazis. It’s super easy.
-
You@literally have to PROVE what you do!! Do Nazis sent in a picture of the Swastika and Twitter is all like, “Hey come on in!”

Didn't need 280 mate - 'We c*cked up. Now better" works fine
-
I was basically just thinking... I wonder if the 280 is literally just for longer apologies

-
did you count? 5 to 1 on
@jack used the full complement! -
He could have gone 7 characters longer ;)pic.twitter.com/VxJFcUOXSf

ah yes - *Sorry* is notable in its absence....
