We'll all get used to it eventually, but it does really change the UX. Having been buried in the API for awhile I can see why this makes 1/

sense from the dev side. The handles get moved out of content and into metadata, improving threading performance which has been a problem.

As an initial phase in UX transition it probably would have been easier on people if the UI still showed all handles at start of tweet.

Within the display of the tweet the handles and content are invisibly separated, profile settings let people choose to show it or collapse.
