Relying on algorithms alone will not work. Not today, not tomorrow. And we know providing broader reach isn’t enough. We need to figure out how to help with economic incentives too. We’re behind on that, but thinking deeply about it. Open to great and scalable ideas.

Really, man?? If you value journalists like you say here, why do you continue to allow the largest purveyor of conspiracies in the country to sully truth on your platform? If you’re committed to truth, you’re backing the wrong horse here. The guy admits it’s all an act.
-
Police your own platform. Real journalists are too busy trying to get to the truth to police it for you while you pass the buck and collect the checks.

Jack’s tweet reminds me of the Trump administration telling the ACLU to find the kids it caged and then lost.

Integrity is not a loanable entity and journalists just don't work for twitter.
-
All you have to do is look at the reply stream of any female journalist that dares to challenge a troll army on a divisive topic to realize that the psychological and emotional toll is too high to be doing it as charity.

And, in the end, only one side of many of these fights is interested in a resolution. Some people just want to watch the world burn.https://twitter.com/panzer/status/809422064117366784 …

Twitter refuses to pay for journalists work. How is that supporting journalism? The truth is social media platforms scrape for free legitimate news as they create cyber battlefields of propaganda. We are currently losing the war, democracy is at risk.
-
Why
@jack are you ignoring the danger your policies are putting on lives and democracies. The alarms are ringing non stop yet you ignore. What could be more important, how much damage are you willing to tolerate? -
The US is not a democracy, it is a republic. And what
@jack is doing is allowing voices to be heard, instead of following the Fascist policies of banning that which some don't like. If you don't like the word of Alex Jones, you don't have to listen to them in a free country. -
That man is a citizen of the UK. Apparently, the uneducated of the United States don't remember that we whipped their butts two times, once 242 years ago, and again 206 years ago. We created a Republic and have a Constitution.
-
America is a democracy. Stop trying to destroy it.

If you value journalists so highly, why not talk to one instead of a hyper partisan commentator like Hannity? Walk the walk.

The Alex Jones/
#Cult45 audience has been conditioned to hate facts and journalists. You can't solve this problem by foisting it on journalists. Hire some social scientists to study brainwashing and your prominent role in facilitating it, please. -
A joint team of sociologists, psychologists, and intelligence operatives with experience in counter-propaganda work would be ideal to identify, target, and isolate users who were using Twitter for targeted harassment or political indoctrination. Oh, and identifying bots.
-
That would be efficacious, imho, and building this specialized team could ultimately help Twitter survive.
