America utilized social media, legacy media wasn’t the deciding factor in the cyberwar we lost. By refusing to pay for legitimate journalism social media companies gave enemy propaganda the ability to weaponize enough to destroy the possibility of a fair election.

@karaswisher amirite? -
There were also significant echo chamber effects in place in 2016 so false articles were able to spread alarmingly quickly. From

@jack at first your platform was all about, “just had a turkey sandwich”. It was fun and cute, many people didn’t have much use for it. 1/ -
Then it was successfully used by repressed people to circumvent oppressive gov’ts and their state controlled media, to get their real news message out to the world. 2/
-
The reason this worked was because their was asymmetric knowledge about social media, the repressive gov’ts didn’t know how to respond or react. /3
-
That asymmetry is long gone, in fact bad actors/repressors now have the upper hand on the platforms. The usefulness of social media platforms to inform has all beaut disappeared. /4
-
So- stop trying to “fix” this problem, you can’t. The best you can do is eliminate it from the platform altogether. You no longer enable free speech. You only enable the destruction of it in the long run.

Hi, Jack. W all due respect, who gives a shit? This is an open marketplace of ideas and YOU are letting our purchased, psychopath, against-the-ropes president use your technology to destabilize the world and draw us into open war. JUST TO COVER HIS TRACKS. PLEASE REMOVE HIM NOW.

The press published SEVENTY THOUSAND SENTENCES about Hillary Clinton emails. Every time I see that I’m reminded of how lopsided the coverage was in 2016.

would love to see you find a way to fix this on the native platform. something that could improve nuanced and thoughtful conversation stemming from who you follow on Twitter would be Twitter creating a podcast app. A chance to get in-depth coverage of topics based on...

the podcast eps that are liked, RT'd, hosted, or have guest appearances from people you follow on Twitter. podcasts are great for diving into nuance and Twitter itself it perfectly positioned to create the best podcast discovery.https://medium.com/@AlexCartaz/twitter-should-make-a-podcast-app-de6f00486f12 …

Look at the news cycle this morning alone from just one tweet of lies from this president. He is using your platform to spread disinformation and it’s working.
