So to be clear, with verification in a known broken state, the team chose to ignore that brokenness to verify a nazi group anyway?

I believe the account you have in mind was verified before the acknowledgment and pause. Tough state now as any badging or de-badging is conflated with endorsement. We will still enforce violations of our terms however (if that happens).
-
If badging/de-badging is conflated with endorsement, then just de-badge everyone and start over with a less-broken system.
-
I believe that would be even more broken. Despite the issues, the badge does verify that it is who it says it is. The amplification the product gives the badge is the issue.

They why not strip everyone of their blue badges and start over? The current situation is ridiculous
-
I believe removing all without another solution in place would be even more ridiculous.
-
Will those who have already gotten checkmarks have to revalidate once the new system is in place? If not, then why do they enjoy being grandfathered in? We would effectively have a legacy and new checkmark
-
Don’t know yet. Lots to figure out.

@kayvz should be the exception. How do we know he's speaking for Twitter? -
Well, me retweeting him should give you one indication

Be great if people at Team Twitter had a different flavour of verification badge.
-
We looked at it. Certainly in the consideration set.

The process between 2016 and 2017 was erratic. Now we are excluded because the application is not open. In our case, journalistic veracity is not considered as an attribute of quality and Twitter loses credibility. We all lose.
-
Twitter no doubt realises how important this issue is and that is why they put a hold on the existing process. I have confidence they will come up with an effective solution. We just have to be patient.
