this isn’t a bad thing whatsoever

Yeah it is. Most of these brands are hoping on the social justice bandwagon for PR points while at the same time exploiting their own workers and giving money to organizations and politicians that work directly against whatever the company is pretending to preach
-
It’s pretty much a PR tactic used by corporations to evade responsibility for their own harmful business practices. “This company is destroying the environment, but at least they have a gay rights ad” “this company is using prison slave labor, but at least they support blm”

Ben and Jerry the founders of the company are old school hippies and would support this for real. Plus weed legalization is 100% on brand for B&J because being high is a number 1 driver of consumption of their products.
-
Bruh Ben And Jerry’s Ice Cream is a wholly owned subsidiary of Unilever, a multinational conglomerate that definitely doesn’t give a shit about POC or marginalized people.
-
Calling out disproportionate prosecution for weed is a good. Tons of people get knee jerk angry when corps support anti discrimination pro black causes. Remember Nike/Kaepernick? This isn't taking a safe position on a settled issue. I dont care if they're doing it cynically.
-
Nah it’s just literally co-opting progressive social causes to make money that then causes the problems they are “against”. Unilever doesn’t spend any money to free inmates who have been incarcerated b/c of cannabis, but you can bet the politicians they fund wrote those policies.
-
Still don't care. If they did an ad for marriage equality after gay marrige has already legal that's BS. May not be donating to free the incarcerated but spending a little of the ad money they were already going to wast advertising frozen lard calling out racism is a good thing.
