@j_arthur_bloom Probably worth asking dissenters who remained in the church how they feel. I can't speak for them. 1/2Thanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. Undo

@j_arthur_bloom 2/2 But those who left aren't entitled to take property w/ them. Or so we argue. -
@JimNaught but I think ecclesiologically, that argument works in UK but not here, where the PEC was a federation of state churches -
@JimNaught so free association implies the right to disassociate. definitely applies to seceding dioceses (who have had better luck legally) -
@j_arthur_bloom I don't think "confederation of state churches" argument holds up, but Twitter prob isn't the place to argue it. -
@JimNaught well, do you think the Dennis Canon was completely above board, or an illicit power grab? -
@j_arthur_bloom Above board. Suggested by Supreme Court in Jones v Wolf.@tobiashallerbsg good on this: http://blog.tobiashaller.net/2009/01/dennis-canon-was-adopted.html … -
@JimNaught@tobiashallerbsg yeah I would say even if it was legitimately adopted it's a power grab -
@j_arthur_bloom@tobiashallerbsg Churches should be allowed to determine how property is held w/in the church.
