The VPN in China is becoming increasingly slow and unstable. Most likely dissent is growing on how the Chinese government is handling the crisis, and the government is trying to stop its people from sharing and reporting the real news on Twitter, Reddit, YouTube, etc

I'm not sure how many people appreciate just how much of a maintenance challenge Windows represents for many open-source projects. Before I started working on GHC I had assumed it was bad. However, now I know; no, it's much much worse.

At this point it is looking likely that GHC will be moving to LLVM as its native toolchain on Windows; this will hopefully allow us to bypass many of the path and process issues that we have been historically fought with. Current plan can be found here:

This is a really nice article. It’s also relevant to Haskell: I see people in the Haskell community ask, “Why don’t we just monomorphize everything, like Rust? Then we could have zero-cost abstractions!” I hope none of those people are the ones complaining about compile times.

Wow. I did not know that. > substituting less than *one day* per week’s worth of calories from beef and dairy products to chicken, fish, eggs, or a plant-based alternative reduces GHG emissions more than buying *all your food* from local sources

[ANN] Happy to release my new library, 'mutable', for "beautiful mutable values". Automatically generate composable piecewise-mutable references for your data types.
