Always worth noting that there is perhaps no criminal legal statistic out there more problematic than our measures of "recidivism." I think everyone has a fairly common intuitive sense of what the word means. Our actual statistical definitions, though?

A reporter at discovered a flaw in a state website that risked exposure of teacher Social Security numbers. He notified the state of the problem and it was fixed. Today, labeled the reporter a 'hacker' & vowed criminal prosecution.

after 9/11, law enforcement raided my neighborhood. men were arrested in front of their kids in the middle of the night. one man allowed 20 people in his home because they were undocumented & afraid. 20 years later, the fear still lingers. from me:
