I promised to end mass incarceration. In 2020 we resentenced nearly 40 people who served decades in state prison. Overall, San Francisco's prison population fell by ~25%, and the jail population fell by ~40%. We are working to expand reentry planning to drive down recidivism.
Can versus should Apparently Chesa can go back and unilaterally change properly adjudicated cases. Just like trump can pardon at whim. But should they use their power like that? Abusing power results in distrust.
