I am dying to read @iyad_elbaghdadi 's analysis about the last arrests in #SaudiArabia

But how did these princes oppose MBS? They did the bay3a, right ?

I have to say that the degree of political maturity among Gulf states citizens remains very low.
-
But then again, enjoying the privileges of an oil-based rentier state for 2-3 generations does that.
-
Now that's coming to an end, but it'll still take a generation (of getting screwed over) for political sense to mature.
-
MBS/MBZ's narrative doesn't work on shrewd Arab analysts and activists but works on large swathes of previously depoliticized Arabs.
-
Other Arab leaders who upon holding power arrested lots of powerful people in an "anti corruption" drive: Nasser, Sadat, Hafez Al Assad

What is the real reason? Consolidation of power?
-
Apparently 3 of the princes own influent TV channels (Rotana, MBC, etc.)

Iyad, let's wait a bit and see this time before jumping to conclusions and judging, please!

I'm well aware of what I'm saying.

Coincidence that Mnuchin and Jared were in the neighborhood last week?
-
There are no such things as coincidences.

Seems like some people really want to move the Aramco listing to the NYSE. Maybe more free patriot missiles?

You think this is purely internal security purge, nothing to do with the US wanting to challenge Iran and MBS removing the Nonsupporters?
-
It is a purge, but I suspect it is preparations for war with Iran (ie Hezbollah). Timing of Hariri resignation suspicious as well.
-
Also houthis missile. Kushner in saudi last week etc isis is done so US doesn't need Iran proxies now. I think some major realignment coming
-
Not only Saudi, but regional trip ending in Israel. Something is brewing.
-
Yes neocons and Netanyahu driving from the backseat
