I think it doesn't really happen in Ireland except for medical reasons, though I think they changed guidelines around religious circumcision after someone died and doctors do those too now.

I’m always caring & professional with all my patients. Those parents had (& still have) no idea about my personal feelings towards their decision. Likewise my non vaccinating parents are treated with care and respect, despite my disagreeing with their views. Twitter’s my outlet

I agree they can look rough sometimes, but that doesn’t necessarily equate to discomfort. I’m not sure what you mean by “scabby”. Perhaps silver nitrate was applied to stop a bit of oozing. That leaves a black residue. They typically just dry and form a coat of new epithelium.

Ummmh doc not to get all weird abt it it completely changes yr ding a ling, one is naturally moist supple & sensitive, the other is hard dry & insensitive so I don't, with all respect think its a case of new epithelium but a lot more drastic a change

It is mutilation. The foreskin is fused to the glans upon birth for a few, or many years into childhood and has to be probed apart and essentially skinned off. What’s left is true raw, bleeding wound at both the cut site and the unnaturally exposed head..
