Splitting hairs to support a person who has many times over the years argued that a consensual sexual relationship can exist between a child and an adult is, uh, not a good look.
It's absolutely not splitting hairs - his words are being gleefully misinterpreted. And yes, he's argued that, and it's bad. On the one hand, I recall reading he stepped back on that after further discussion, and on the other hand, that's an irrelevant deflection.
