Surely at this point in the pandemic we’re best off just remaining in national lockdown until vaccines have rolled out? I can’t be the only one thinking that, right?

No, but it's not that simple, many things have to be considered, look at the summer we were mostly fine with limited cases for months despite no lock down. It's a balance that the country hasn't discovered how to achieve yet, slow reactions and no track and trace don't help

I think the summer was largely aided by families able to see one another outdoors - winter doesn’t provide that same benefit unfortunately. We also didn’t have this highly contagious variant back then either. Why wait when the trajectory is far worse than ever?

I think is far more to do with schools been shut then anything else, cases spiked as soon as we opened them up and we haven't recovered since. On the wait, that's the problem, our governments way is wait until its too late, rather then predict ahead of time.

That’s bang on there tbf buddy. What baffles me is how EVERYONE knows it’s the schools and can see that correlation plain as day, yet there’s still no intention to close them. There’s even published reports showing school kids are likely to be the first cases in a household
