I know the third final fantasy xiii had some sort of mechanic like majoras mask with there being so many days until the end of the world and you could time travel back and forth through them, might be worth a look!
I've been playing through Majora's Mask again this week whilst off sick, and I'd love to see a modern game do a similar take time travel. For a 20 year old game, Majora's Mask holds up incredibly well and the world of Termina is still brilliantly weird.
