This is why I spend 99% of my gaming time on GaaS models or free to play titles like Apex. I love a traditional single player title but when every other release is another open world epic it is so hard to keep up!https://twitter.com/GIBiz/status/1159471946519785472 …
Something I find quite interesting is how it's the way in which content is presented that usually determines whether or not I feel like playing a particular game. Modern games have less obvious "end points" to their game loops, which is kind of a blessing and a curse to me.

On one hand, being able to seamlessly transition from a mission back into free roam play is amazing for player agency and worldbuilding, yet on the flip side it always leaves me with this weird sense of progression where I feel as though I can't just stop playing.

Yet, daily/weekly challenges in Apex which may take just as long to finish as a good chunk of content in another game always leaves me feeling accomplished like I've done what I set out to do and can now happily shut off the game.
