Just because it happens all the time doesn't mean it's good for the creators. People making money off of other people's content just for making it into a compilation doesn't help the people who made the clip in the first place.
Striking the video does not help the people who made the clip. He could’ve ask for the video to be removed, or had his channel promoted, but instead, without any communication, he just striked the video.
But it helps take money away from people who are stealing work and that helps the creative community as a whole by preventing them from stealing in the future.
