99% of discourse would be improved if people went on twitter and followed literally anyone who's not one of the top 50 most well known posters in whatever area they're talking about

Yes. I am constantly mystified people don’t realize this even after a decade on this site. The only big accounts I follow in spite of that, I consider bigness and blueticks a negative signal.
like personally i love mike etc but obviously people with 100k+ followers are not representative of any field lol twitter rewards being funny and if you want funny it's easy to find but if you don't like it then don't follow those people it's literally so easy

Oh yeah I mean I follow mikey he’s one of the exceptions lol. But deliberately avoiding big twitter and anyone twitter recommends has been fun & it’s why I stay. Scicomm twitter and philosotwitter just rule, the former has so much: fish people, birb people, marsupial folk etc.
