imo taking the former seriously and punishing the latter would just undermine the former long-term but i don’t think anyone wants to “punish” the latter anyway, it’s just really easy to let (perhaps justified) political anger take over when we see it

can’t say you’re wrong (even i’m probably somewhat of a hypocrite on this kind of thing) but i do still think less-conditional compassion is important in such a vulnerable time

yeah it's tough there's def a balance between the urge to live up to ideals of compassion and the urge to like, meme as an outlet lol but idk i'm pretty over contrarian types weaponizing "compassion" when it suits them and being distinctly uncompassionate in everything else
