there's always "a few people" who overdo it but who cares, the bulk of criticism and esp all the responses from actually respected ppl was all very normal and acceptable disagreement. there are a few real examples of cancelling going too far but this isn't one of them

I don't think he's literally been cancelled, but the effect has been similar, although lesser in scope. Timnit refused to discuss but plastered him everywhere as being wrong, and thanks to the social pressure that generated he decided to go silent on Twitter
