honestly amazing how sf housing discourse has devolved to the point where it's literally impossible to discuss things like aesthetics or taste or personality in this city without some guy coming in and calling you a nimby lmao

My hypothesis for why that is is that NIMBYs use a lot of bad-faith justifications for their opposition to growth, so they've basically co-opted all those statements. It's specially frustrating when the language of equity and diversity is used to argue against housing more ppl

Not saying you're doing that here, obv. It's fine to think ugly buildings are ugly. Ideally we'd be building enough new buildings to satisfy a broad range of aesthetic tastes
