Don't come to Seattle. That's exactly what every new building looks like. Block after block after block...
yeah i lived in westlake for a bit one summer and it was awful lmao
lol you should see what they are building across the street from my apartment (https://www.berkeleyside.com/2020/02/24/a-moorish-tudor-fever-dream-is-unveiled-on-telegraph-avenue …). I wonder what these architects are smoking
I see this play out all the time on NextDoor Silicon Valley: Long time residents: All these new developments are so CHEAP/BORING looking. They're not worthy of our city. (City being Sunnyvale or San Carlos or Menlo Park.. not SF) /1
this building is the kind of thing San Francisco design review process optimizes for. articulation, varying materials etc. so this is what you get when everyone has a say.
its affordable housing complaining about how affordable housing looks is extremely privileged
it’s cuz of the high cost of building exteriors. For ex, this looks like it’s all stucco. cooler materials and features cost a lot. When it’s just stucco it’s hard to break up the massing and create interest, so the city prob encouraged the designers to add ugly color
the banality of evil
(this is a JOKE reply bros)
