afaik the face rec systems used by urban police are often worse, manual tagging by an investigator who doesn't understand the recognition system is involved, fbi systems are a bit more accurate but were still acquired in 2017
facial rec is such a fucked area that i can't tell if caveats abt stuff like gan enhancement even matter anymore if existing systems are so bad. it's like the same thing with algorithmic bail systems each new one is super flawed but even worse ones are already trusted in use
