tech ppl love to say “essays & ECs are less fair than the sat” and provide literally zero evidence lol not everyone defaults to writing abt some fake volunteer summer their parents paid for to pad their resumes i know this is hard to conceptualize

SAT kinda sucks but personal essays, letters of rec, and "well-rounded" extracurriculars are way worse. Too many kids see the "point" of high school as optimizing their college applications.

i don’t know if you understand that the vast vast majority of kids in the state are not thinking abt it this way lmao......i am a product of the bay area rat race but my friends who aren’t didn’t give a shit abt this stuff

I understand why the change was made, but I'm worried because it was the exact same change used to keep too many Jews from getting into Ivy League schools. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.businessinsider.com/the-ivy-leagues-history-of-discriminating-against-jews-2014-12%3famp … I support affirmative action. Don't know if I support removing SAT/ACTs.

bit confused by the outrage. isn't everyone pulling their kids out of school and enrolling them in lambda since college is so 20th century?

they're also making their own test, which is interesting and renders a lot of arguments moot

some of us simply never even get told that an SAT/ACT is 'accessible', the rat race continues but I cant get how it's removal will make it anymore 'harder' for people to start a honest career in CS, just one less gate you have to be lucky to know about

For selective colleges, they'll (necessarily) weight other stuff more. Personal essays, letters of rec, ECs, AP classes are a less equal playing field than the SAT. GPA also has problems. For non-selective schools I agree with you.
